A Lengthy Nesting Period of Western and Clark's Grebes, San Carlos Lake, 2023-2024

In 2023 and 2024, the water level was unusually high at San Carlos Lake for a period of 19 months, creating relatively stable conditions for nesting Western and Clark's Grebes. This note describes the longest known period of nesting for these grebes at this reservoir, including their first reported nests in velvet mesquite.
