On 6 November 2021, the first American Woodcock (Scolopax minor) was documented in Arizona. It was along Cave Creek downstream from the confluence with its South Fork in the Chiricahua Mountains in Cochise County. A species of eastern North America, American Woodcock is a rarity in the western United States.
