Gila County, located in central Arizona, has recorded 379 species of birds, 187 of which have nested in the county. This article describes the process used to determine which species would be included in the updated Field Checklist of the Birds of Gila County (AZFO 2021), considering criteria for their inclusion, abundance, and seasonal status. It also presents examples of review species and rare species for the county.
