Abstract:

On 27 November 2010 the author discovered and photographed a Sedge Wren (Cistothorus platensis) on the shores of Peña Blanca Lake, Santa Cruz County, Arizona. This sighting was the first documented record of this species for Arizona. Perhaps the following observations of the Peña Blanca Lake Sedge Wren will add some small amount to the knowledge of the winter range and habits of this fun little bird.
